Milton Hurricane Experience In Florida

Milton hurricane is one of the biggest disasters in the history of Tampa city in Florida. A hurricane so big had not hit Tampa in a 100 years. A Bangladeshi family who was traveling during the hurricane season had faced the storms in Miami. They were visiting Florida, and before going to Maimi they visited Tampa and Orlando. They took the risk of going away to Miami by road even when they had the warning about the danger of the hurricane storm hitting soon. They were lucky enough to reach Miami before the storm hit. They confirmed that the hurricane was very strong and it affected a lot of people in Florida advertisements on billboards had been blown away by the strong winds. The air felt very heavy before the storm hit. People were told to evacuate the west coast areas were the hurricane would make its landfall. Dhaka Airport 3rd Terminal About to Open In October

Hazrat Shahjalal Airport has completed its work at least 77.5 percent work. It will partially open in October's first week. The project's 90 percent will be completed before time according to Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman. This was said at a press conference. There is work going on with the installations and various equipments. Mr. Mafidur said the terminal will be fully functional in 2024 and so there could be a soft opening in the first week of October. Bus to London - 2021

Are you planning your next year's travel - here is something to consider: In 1957, Oswald-Joseph-Garrow-Fisher, drove his own bus Indiaman on a round trip journey from London to Calcutta. The bus departed from London on April 15, 1957 with 20 passengers on board and returned back to London on August 2, 1957 (Tickets cost £85 for one way and £65 for the round trip). It travelled through France, Italy, Yugoslovia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan. If you want to embark on a similar cross-continental road trip, Adventures Overland is organizing a 70days bus journey through 18 countries covering 20,000kms from India to London. The journey will begin on May 2021. The cost per person is INR 15 lacs which includes all travel and overnight stay arrangements, meals, visa fees, permits, and much more. Only 20 seats are available for the journey.

Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, National Assembly Building of Bangladesh

Photo Captured by Najmul Nahid   Located in the city of Dhaka, the National Assembly Building of Bangladesh, Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, stands out as an architectural masterpiece surrounded by water and beautifully landscaped gardens. Famous American architect Louis I. Kahn is the visionary of this masterpiece. Considered to be the largest legislative complex in the world, it is home to all of Bangladesh’s parliamentary activity. Construction commenced in 1961 and was completed on 28 January 1982. Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban was used for the first time on 15th February 1982 as the venue for the eighth, and last, session of the second parliament of Bangladesh.

Lalbagh Fort and Pari Bibi

The Lalbagh Fort also known as Fort Aurangabad is an incomplete Mughal palace fortress situated in the south western part of Dhaka city. The construction of The Lalbagh Fort began in 1678 by Prince Mohammed Azam a Mughal prince third son of Emperor Aurangzeb. He started the work on the fort when he was viceroy of Bengal. He was in Bengal for 15 months and could not complete the fort as he was called back to Delhi by his father. Later he handed it over to Shaista Khan who was the new viceroy of Bengal to complete it. Shaista Khan's daughter Iran Dukht or Pari Bibi died there. Her death was thought to be an ill omen and so her father did not complete the fort, though he was in Dhaka up to to 1688. The Mausoleum of Pari Bibi is situated at the front as you enter the fort, the Diwan, or Hall of Audience is to the left and the three-domed Quilla Mosque is to the right. they all date back to 1684. Raju Memorial Sculpture (Shontrash Birodhi Raju Sharokh Bhaskarjya), Dhaka University

Photograph captured by Asif Rahat Raju Memorial Sculpture (Shontrash Birodhi Raju Sharokh Bhaskarjya) is a sculpture located in University of Dhaka campus. It was created by Shaymol Chowdhury and considered as one of the best sculptures in Bangladesh. It is dedicated to the memory of a student of Dhaka University named Moin Hossain Raju an activist of Bangladesh Student’s Union who was killed while protesting against violence. It was built in the late 1995s.

Senakunja, Dhaka Cantonment

The newly designed and constructed Senakunja is an iconic landmark in Dhaka. This construction was completed under 9 months and was inaugurated in 2019. This world class event venue can accommodate more than three times its previous capacity. The structure boasts a unique blend of modern and traditional construction using glass, CNC aluminum mesh, ACP, concrete, and steel. The 52 feet tall terracotta murals infront of the Senakunja are one of the tallest in the country which depicts our nation’s rich history and story. It is a spectacular venue and a gem in Bangladesh.

Wind Mills - Sirajganj, Jamuna River Bank

This wind power plant is being commissioned on a turnkey basis and is adjacent to the existing 150 MW Sirajganj power plant. Fun Fact: China has the largest wind farm in the world of capacity of 221 GW and is the leader in wind energy, with over a third of the world’s capacity.

Taj Mahal Bangladesh

Unlike the original, work on the building took only five years and reportedly cost its wealthy owner USD $56 million. Ahsanullah Moni, a wealthy Bangladeshi film-maker, has told how he built a replica of the Taj Mahal so that the poor of his nation can realise their dream of seeing neighboring India's famed monument.

Dubai Travel Update - Effective August 1, 2020

Anyone planning to travel from Dhaka through Dubai Airport? Well here is an update on instructions by the Dubai Airport Authorities. These rules will be effective from 1st August 2020. Travellers from Bangladesh need to be aware.  All passengers are required to obtain a negative COVID-19 certificate before arriving at DXB or BWC. Passengers from Bangladesh will undergo another PCR test upon arrival at DXB or DWC. All passengers including citizens, residents, and tourists departing from DXB or DWC to take to the European Union or United Kingdom are required to carry a negative COVID-19 certificate. Children under the age 12 and children with moderate to severe disabilities are exempt from PCR.  Negative COVID-19 certificate should be valid for 96 hours from the time of PCR.  Source: AOCC@dubaiairpots.ae

The people of  Dhaka have the wonderful opportunity to visit all the historical places of significance within the city. A visit to see the Wall which portrays the history of independence is a very exciting experience for all, whether you are young or old.  The wall called the "Janatar Deyal"  has pictorials made in Terracotta by artists of Bangladesh depicting the history for people to visualize the incidents that took place during the war of Independence. A visual lesson in history for the new generation.  Janatar Deyal Underground, below the Glass Tower Monument and the mural on the 'Janatar Deyal', there is  a Museum of Independence which depicts the struggle for independence of Bangladesh. Bibi Mariam: the Cannon of Dhaka

The Canon which used to sit at the corner of Gulistan, was a landmark which is remembered by many still. The younger generation have not had the opportunity to see it as often as the older generation. As it is now placed at the entrance of Osmani Uddyan, Ramna, Dhaka. This cannon was built by local technicians on the order of Mir Jumla II, who was appointed as Governor of Bengal by Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb. He ordered two cannons to be built named Bibi Marium and Kale Jamjam also known as Kale Khan. One was given a female name and the other a male. They were placed both sides of the Buriganga Riverin Swarighat in front of 'Barakatra' and the other on a sandbar near Jinjira. They were placed there to defend Dhaka's waterfront from frequent attacks of the Mogh and Arakan pirates.  Jumla took both of these cannons when he attacked Assam. My COVID-19 Travel Experience from Dhaka to Vancouver with Qatar Airways

Now we have finally got a few airlines arranged with lot of safety precaution in this COVID-19 pandemic and Qatar airways is one of those airlines who has arranged these safety precautions. I recently traveled on Qatar airways and I am sharing a my COVID-19 travel experience from Dhaka to Vancouver. Traveling in this pandemic is tough because you will be going through lots of airport sections and people before boarding the plane. I was a bit stressed about our Dhaka airport since so much was going on else where. But to my surprise it was okay. Passengers were all wearing mask and gloves, maintaining their social distances and following what needs to be done. I upgraded my ticket to travel comfortably which was really rewarding. Qatar Airways provided us with the face shield to wear on flight. Our flight was from Dhaka to Doha to Montreal to Vancouver, BC. A ver...

Doel Chattar

  The Doel Chattar (aka The Doel Square) is a sculpture of our National Bird, the oriental magpie-robin, locally known as the Doel. It is a popular place for shopping traditional Bangladeshi handicrafts made of bamboo, wood, jute and pottery. Dhaka Doel Chattar In the old days, where the Doel Chattar or Doel Square stands today, near Curzon Hall there used to be a market for slaves. People were sold by merchants from far and wide, who were then taken by their masters, to far off lands like Sumatra, Afghanistan, Syria, and many other places. Dhaka city   is nearly 500 years old. The city is engulfed with many secrets of the past.
